The Wester Hailes

Community Trust

Led by the community, for the community.

The Wester Hailes Community Trust is a collaborative community body supporting local-led decision making and development in the South West Edinburgh neighbourhood Wester Hailes. The Trust is led by and accountable to its local membership which consists of 51 members and 12 Trustees that hold board meetings on a monthly basis. Members share their ideas for Wester Hailes and vote on what ideas get put into action. 

The Wester Hailes Community Trust is for people who:

  • Want to get more involved in the community 

  • Want to have their say on local matters

  • Want to work with their fellow residents to make Wester Hailes the best it can be

Our Priorities

  • To represent the  breadth of Wester Hailes and its 7 neighbourhoods 

  • To ensure locals are at the core of decision making and development in Wester Hailes 

  • To encourage local involvement and engagement

  • To be the centralized voice for the community and to facilitate conversations regarding community matters 

Examples of Projects that the Trust has accomplished:

  • The redevelopment of the Westside Plaza

  • The Railway Underpass

  • Small Sparks grants for local initiatives like the Hailesland Wildlife Cafe

  • Tasting Change 

  • The Wester Hailes Local Place Plan 

Planned Projects:

  • Implementing the 36 projects proposed by the Local Place Plan 

  • Actively organizing free local events in collaboration with local organizations
