About Wester Hailes Community Trust

Wester Hailes Community Trust is a new collaborative community organisation that has been established to support genuine community-led development in Wester Hailes.

The Trust is led by and accountable to its local membership. Initially it’s will focus will be on two significant steps:

Step 1:  The establishment of a locally controlled community fund that will allow local people to take forward ideas and actions to address community priorities – initially those that came out of the Wester Hailes Open Space event.

Step 2: The development and direct delivery by Wester Hailes Community Trust of projects that meet its charitable purposes.

Our Priorities

Our Priorities as decided by the local community:

  • Making Wester Hailes safer for the community
    Includes raising awareness of hate crime, tackling anti-social behaviour
  • Making the community better together
    Includes improving recycling, better care of green space
  • Engaging With Young People
    Includes activities, events and groups supporting young people
  • Addressing transport issues
    Includes more frequent bus routes to schools and hospitals, better rail service.
  • Making better use of IT
    Includes free wi-fi, more IT classes
  • Improving community facilities and unused land
    Includes spaces for young people, developing the Plaza

How can i get involved?

You can apply to join Wester Hailes Community Trust if you are aged 16 or over AND Live in Wester Hailes within our defined boundaries

As a member you will have a say at our general meetings and can apply for project funding.
